EQB appoints Mike Pedersen to board, plans chair nomination in 2026
EQB Inc. (TSX: EQB) appointed Mike Pedersen to its board of directors effective immediately and plans to nominate him as chair at the April 2026 annual general meeting, according to a company statement.
The appointment is part of EQB's succession planning as current chair Vincenza Sera plans to retire after 13 years of board service. Sera joined the board in 2013 and has served as chair since September 2024. She will not seek re-election at the April 2026 meeting.
Pedersen brings over 30 years of experience in financial services. He served as chair of Business Development Bank of Canada from 2018 to 2023 and held senior roles at TD Bank Group, including president and CEO of the bank's U.S. operations from 2013 to 2017.
Currently based in Toronto, Pedersen serves on the boards of CGI, AtkinsRéalis and Clean Prosperity. He chairs the Advisory Committee for the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo and is a member of the Sustainable Finance Advisory Committee at the Global Risk Institute.
Pedersen holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto.
"It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of EQB and Equitable Bank," Sera said in the statement. "I'm proud to announce Mike's appointment to the Board and nomination as Chair in 2026 – he has an impressive career spanning global financial markets and brings a valuable perspective to the Board."
EQB operates as a digital financial services company with $138 billion in combined assets under management and administration as of October 31, 2025. The company offers banking services through Equitable Bank and wealth management through ACM Advisors.
