Disc Medicine Inc. (NASDAQ: IRON) appointed Nadim Ahmed to its board of directors, the company announced. Ahmed serves as president and chief executive officer of Cullinan Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company developing oncology and autoimmune disease treatments.
Ahmed brings over 25 years of leadership experience in drug development and commercialization. He previously held executive positions at Bristol Myers Squibb, where he served as president of hematology, and at Celgene Corporation as president of global hematology and oncology. At both companies, Ahmed oversaw multiple product launches and served on leadership teams.
"His track record of successful drug launches and deep expertise in hematological diseases will be invaluable as we advance bitopertin towards commercialization in EPP and continue development of the rest of our hematology pipeline," said John Quisel, president and CEO of Disc Medicine.
Ahmed said he was joining the board during a period when the company expects multiple catalysts, including a potential new drug application filing and launch for bitopertin in EPP. The company is developing treatments for hematologic diseases through targeting red blood cell biology pathways.
Ahmed holds a master's degree from Loughborough University and a bachelor's degree from University College London. Disc Medicine is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering and developing treatments for serious hematologic diseases.
