Defence Therapeutics adds former Biogen executive to board

Defence Therapeutics Inc. (CSE: DTC) (OTCQB: DTCFF) (FSE: DTC) appointed Dr. John Beaver to its board of directors, the Montreal-based biotechnology company announced.
Dr. Beaver brings over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnology leadership roles. He most recently served as Vice President and Head of Global Biomarker Discovery & Development at Biogen, where he led biomarker and translational development activities for approximately 48 pipeline programs.
During his tenure at Biogen, Dr. Beaver contributed to biomarker-driven development strategies associated with FDA accelerated approvals in Alzheimer's disease and ALS. He previously held senior positions at AbbVie, where he served as Head of Translational Imaging and was recognized as a Volwiler Research Fellow.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Beaver worked as a Senior Imaging Scientist at GlaxoSmithKline's Clinical Imaging Centre at Imperial College London and later as Director of Imaging at Maccine in Singapore. He also conducted brain imaging research as a postdoctoral fellow with the UK Medical Research Council at the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Beaver currently serves as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of a biotechnology company in the Greater Boston area.

The company granted Dr. Beaver 150,000 incentive stock options exercisable at 60 cents per share for five years. The options vest immediately under Defence's omnibus incentive plan.
Defence Therapeutics develops precision intracellular drug-delivery technology through its ACCUM platform for applications including antibody-drug conjugates and radiopharmaceuticals.
