Defence Therapeutics Inc. (CSE: DTC) (OTCQB: DTCFF) (FSE: DTC) announced the appointment of Dr. John Lambert to its board of directors, effective immediately. The Montreal-based biotechnology company granted Lambert 150,000 stock options exercisable at 58 cents per share for five years.
Lambert brings over 40 years of experience in antibody-drug conjugate development. He previously held senior roles at ImmunoGen, including chief scientific officer and executive vice president of research. During his tenure, ImmunoGen scientists developed technologies that contributed to Genentech/Roche's KADCYLA therapy, approved in 2013 for HER2-positive breast cancer, and discovered the anti-CD38 antibody that became Sanofi's SARCLISA. AbbVie acquired ImmunoGen in 2024.
Lambert earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Cambridge in 1976 and completed postdoctoral research at the University of California, Davis, and the University of Glasgow. He has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications and was elected Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering in 2016. Since 2018, he has advised biotechnology companies and venture capital firms on ADC technologies.
"John is one of the most respected pioneers in the ADC field and has contributed to the development of technologies and therapeutics that have had a major impact on cancer treatment worldwide," said Sébastien Plouffe, Defence's chief executive officer.
Defence Therapeutics develops its ACCUM platform for precision drug delivery, focusing on enhancing the effectiveness of ADCs and other biologics for cancer treatment.
