Crusoe adds three independent directors to its board

Crusoe, an AI infrastructure company, has appointed three independent directors to its board: Thomas Seifert, chief financial officer of Cloudflare (NYSE: NET); Bill Stein, partner and chief investment officer at Primary Digital Infrastructure and former CEO of Digital Realty Trust; and JB Straubel, founder and CEO of Redwood Materials and co-founder of Tesla.

Seifert has served as Cloudflare's CFO since 2017 and guided the company through its 2019 IPO. He previously held CFO roles at Symantec and Advanced Micro Devices. He will serve as chair of Crusoe's audit committee.

Stein co-founded Digital Realty Trust and served as its CEO from 2014 to 2022, during which time the company's market capitalization grew from $700 million to $50 billion. He currently also serves as chairman of Verne and on the board of Host Hotels & Resorts.

Straubel co-founded Tesla and served as its chief technology officer from 2005 to 2019. He currently sits on the boards of Tesla and QuantumScape. Crusoe noted that its modular data centers operate on a microgrid of solar power and repurposed electric vehicle batteries supplied by Redwood Materials.

"JB, Bill, and Thomas each bring a rare combination of vision, operational depth, and domain expertise that will be invaluable as we scale Crusoe to meet the market demand," said Chase Lochmiller, CEO and co-founder of Crusoe.

The three appointments expand a board that already includes Lochmiller, co-founder Cully Cavness, Enrique Salem of Bain Capital Ventures, Vivek Pattipati of Valor Equity Partners, and Nael Karim Kassar of KCK Ltd. According to the company, Michael Gordon, former COO and CFO of MongoDB, was appointed as Crusoe's COO and CFO in December 2025.
