Community West Bancshares board member retires after 39 years

Community West Bancshares (NASDAQ: CWBC) announced that board member William S. Smittcamp will retire effective March 31, 2026, after 39 years of service to the company and its subsidiary Community West Bank.
Smittcamp joined the board during the bank's early years and worked with most of the original founders and all four chief executive officers throughout the company's history. During his tenure, he served on and chaired multiple board committees, including the Compensation, Nominating/Governance, and Retirement Committees.
"Bill's service spans an extraordinary period in the Bank's history," said Daniel J. Doyle, Chairman of the Board, according to the company's statement.
Smittcamp currently serves as President, CEO, and owner of Wawona Frozen Foods, Inc., a company founded by his father in 1963 that ships more than 100 million pounds of frozen fruit products annually to clients worldwide. He also holds principal positions in other family-related businesses.
The retiring director earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, Fresno. He has served on numerous boards throughout California's Central Valley, including Valley Children's Healthcare, Garfield Water District, California Health Sciences University, and the Fresno State Foundation Board of Governors.
Community West Bancshares was established in 1979 and opened its first banking center in January 1980. The company operates full-service banking centers throughout Central California and maintains departments supporting commercial lending, agribusiness, SBA, residential construction and mortgage, manufactured housing, private banking, and cash management.
The company's board currently includes 15 directors plus one director emeritus, according to the press release statement.
