Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE: CRS) announced leadership changes to its board of directors following the retirement of longtime Chairman I. Martin Inglis.
Inglis informed the board on August 12, 2025, of his intention to retire after 22 years of service and not stand for re-election at the company's 2025 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, scheduled for October 7, 2025. The company stated that Inglis's decision was not due to any disagreement with the company or board regarding operations, policies or practices.
The board appointed Tony R. Thene, the company's current President and Chief Executive Officer, to serve as Chairman of the Board. The appointment will take effect immediately prior to the 2025 Annual Meeting.
The board also appointed Steven M. Ward to serve as Lead Independent Director, effective at the same time as Thene's appointment as chairman.
The leadership transition consolidates the chairman and CEO roles under Thene, who will maintain his current executive responsibilities while adding the board chairmanship to his duties.
