Candel Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CADL) announced the appointment of Martine Zimmermann, PharmD, to its board of directors, effective September 8, 2026.
Zimmermann currently serves as Executive Vice President, Head of Regulatory Affairs, Quality and Alliance Management at Inventiva S.A. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Strasbourg.
The Needham, Massachusetts-based company said the appointment comes as it prepares to submit a Biologics License Application (BLA) for its lead candidate, aglatimagene besadenovec, in the fourth quarter of 2026.
"Martine joins Candel at an important stage in our evolution, as we prepare for the planned submission of the BLA for aglatimagene besadenovec in the fourth quarter of 2026 and continue building the capabilities required of a potential commercial-stage company," said Paul Peter Tak, President and Chief Executive Officer of Candel.
Aglatimagene besadenovec is an investigational adenovirus-based immunotherapy designed for intratumoral administration. It is not currently approved by the FDA or any other regulatory authority. The company completed a pivotal phase 3 clinical trial of the therapy in localized prostate cancer, conducted under a Special Protocol Assessment agreed with the FDA.
