CPKC names Gordon Trafton board chair as Isabelle Courville retires

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (TSX: CP) (NYSE: CP) announced the retirement of board chair Isabelle Courville and the appointment of Gordon Trafton as her successor, effective immediately, according to a company statement released July 29, 2026.
Courville joined the CPKC board on May 1, 2013, and has served as chair since May 7, 2019. She was appointed vice-chair of the board on January 28, 2026, as part of the board's succession planning process. She also chaired the Audit Committee from 2014 to 2016 and served as chair of the Management, Resources and Compensation Committee.
"I am extremely proud to have been part of the remarkable history of Canadian Pacific and the creation of CPKC," Courville said.
Trafton, based in Naperville, IL, has served on the CPKC board since January 1, 2017, and was appointed vice-chair on January 28, 2026. He retired in 2010 from Canadian National (CN) after a 33-year railroad career that included roles at CN, Illinois Central, and Burlington Northern Railroad. From 2003 to 2009, he held senior vice-president positions at CN, including roles in strategic acquisitions and integration and the Southern Region.
CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel said in the statement: "With Gordon's strong railroad operating background and exceptional leadership skills, the Board remains in excellent hands."
Trafton said he looks forward to working with board members and management, adding that the board remains "steadfast in our commitment to maximizing the value of CPKC for our shareholders, employees, and customers."
CPKC operates approximately 20,000 route miles of rail linking Canada, the United States, and Mexico, and employs approximately 20,000 workers.
