Brown & Brown adds Joia Johnson to board of directors

Brown & Brown Inc. (NYSE: BRO) appointed Joia M. Johnson to its board of directors, the insurance brokerage firm announced Monday.

Johnson served as chief legal officer, chief administrative officer, general counsel and corporate secretary of Hanesbrands Inc. before retiring in 2021. She held the chief administrative officer role from 2016 to 2021 and the chief legal officer position from 2007 to 2021.

Before joining Hanesbrands, Johnson worked as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at RARE Hospitality International Inc., a restaurant franchise company, from 2001 to 2007.

Johnson currently serves on several public company boards. She sits on the board of Global Payments Inc., where she participates in the Compensation Committee and Governance and Nominating Committee. At Sylvamo Corporation, she serves on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and Management Development and Compensation Committee.

She also holds board positions at Regions Financial Corp. and its subsidiary Regions Bank, where she chairs the Compensation and Human Resources Committee and serves on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. Johnson previously served on the board of Crawford & Company, an insurance claims management company.

Brown & Brown operates from more than 700 locations globally with over 23,000 professionals, according to the company's statement.
