Bausch Health CEO joins Bausch + Lomb board amid reshuffle
Bausch Health Companies Inc. (NYSE: BHC, TSX: BHC) announced that its chief executive officer, Thomas J. Appio, has been appointed to the board of directors of subsidiary Bausch + Lomb Corporation (NYSE: BLCO, TSX: BLCO), effective August 5, 2026.
Three additional directors — Robert J. Chersi, Laurence E. Paul, M.D., and Barbara J. Trebbi — also joined the Bausch + Lomb board. The four new appointments replace outgoing directors Steven Collis, Karen Ling, Thomas Ross, and Andrew von Eschenbach, M.D., each of whom resigned to facilitate the changes. According to the announcement, none of the resignations resulted from any disagreement with Bausch + Lomb.
Bausch Health stated the board changes were requested by the company and are consistent with its existing ownership position. Bausch Health holds approximately 87% of Bausch + Lomb's outstanding common shares indirectly through its wholly owned subsidiaries.
"Bausch + Lomb is an important asset of Bausch Health, and I look forward to working with the board to support its strategy and help drive long-term value for shareholders," Appio said in the statement.
