Atlassian names Google VP Anil Sabharwal to board of directors

Atlassian Corporation (NASDAQ: TEAM) announced the appointment of Anil Sabharwal to its board of directors, effective February 1, 2026. Sabharwal currently serves as vice president of product at Google, where he has worked for 17 years in various senior leadership roles.
At Google, Sabharwal founded and led teams behind Google Photos, which gained more than one billion active users in under four years. He also led product development for Google Chrome, ChromeOS and Chromium, and was part of the founding team for Google Drive, Mobile Docs and Google Keep. Most recently, he headed the Health and Wearables division within Google's Pixel team.
In 2025, Sabharwal served as a technical advisor to Atlassian and oversaw the company's partnership with the Atlassian Williams Racing Formula One Team. He also works as a venture partner at AirTree Ventures and previously served on the board of Wesfarmers.
Prior to Google, Sabharwal co-founded e-learning company Desire2Learn. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Waterloo and currently resides in Sydney, Australia.
The appointment comes as two longtime board members step down. Rich Wong and Sasan Goodarzi will retire from Atlassian's board effective January 1, 2026, after serving 15.5 years and 7.5 years respectively.
Atlassian provides team collaboration and productivity software to over 300,000 customers worldwide, including companies in the Fortune 500.
