Atara Biotherapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: ATRA) announced Greg Ciongoli will serve as chair of the board of directors, according to a company statement.

Ciongoli, founder and managing partner of Adiumentum Capital Management, has been a director at the T-cell immunotherapy company since 2024. He will also serve on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

"With the resubmitted BLA recently accepted by the FDA, and Atara's greatly reduced operating costs, we believe we are well positioned to consider value maximizing options for our Ebvallo milestones and royalties, as well as our differentiated allogeneic CAR T portfolio," Ciongoli said in the statement.

The company also announced that Pascal Touchon, Maria Grazia Roncarolo and Ameet Mallik are stepping down from the board. The changes reflect the company's reduced size and effort to align the board with its smaller operations, according to the statement.

Atara develops off-the-shelf cell therapies using its allogeneic Epstein-Barr virus T-cell platform for cancer and autoimmune diseases. The Thousand Oaks, California-based company's Ebvallo therapy has received regulatory approval.
