Argo Graphene names battery scientist Al-Hallaj to board

Argo Graphene Solutions Corp. (CSE: ARGO, OTCQB: ARLSF) has appointed Dr. Said Al-Hallaj, a chemical engineer specializing in battery technology and energy storage, to its board of directors, according to a company statement.

Dr. Al-Hallaj currently serves as chief battery scientist at Beam Global (NASDAQ: BEEM) and is founder and CEO of NETenergy, a Chicago-based thermal energy storage company. He previously served as chairman and CEO of All Cell Technologies LLC.

He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and has held academic positions at Illinois Institute of Technology, the University of Illinois Chicago, Northwestern University, and Tohoku University in Japan. His published research has accumulated more than 17,000 citations, and he has been ranked among the top 2% of scientists in chemical engineering in a Stanford-led ranking of highly cited researchers.

Dr. Al-Hallaj also previously served on the advisory board of Grapherry, the company that licensed its STREAM™ graphene production technology to Argo, where he worked alongside Argo CEO Dr. Vikas Berry.

Argo said the appointment is connected to its efforts to commercialize the STREAM™ platform, which produces graphene and graphene oxide materials the company is evaluating for use in energy storage, electronics, construction, and other industrial markets.

Dr. Berry said in the statement, "Said brings deep expertise in batteries and energy storage, together with extensive experience commercializing advanced technologies."

Dr. Al-Hallaj commented, "Energy storage is an area where I believe advanced graphene materials warrant significant attention."

Dr. Al-Hallaj has also spun off two university-based technology startups and served as a commercialization fellow with the University of Illinois Chicago Office of Technology Management.
