Approov, an Edinburgh, Scotland-based mobile app and API security company, has appointed Rex S. Jackson as independent Chairman of its Board of Directors, according to a press release from the company.

Jackson succeeds Dr. Lucio Lanza, who will remain on the board as a non-executive director. The appointment was approved unanimously by Approov's board and shareholders, including investors Maven Capital Partners, Lanza Tech Ventures, and Scottish Enterprise.

Jackson has more than three decades of executive and board experience at Silicon Valley technology companies. He has held Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel roles at multiple public and private technology firms, most recently serving as CFO during ChargePoint's merger and public listing. He currently serves on the board of Terra Innovatum (Nasdaq: NKLR), where he chairs the audit committee and serves on the compensation committee. Jackson holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School and a B.A. from Duke University.

"Approov solves a problem the entire industry is waking up to: proving what is on the other end of an API call," Jackson said in the statement. "I have watched this team build remarkable technology and a business, and I am honored to serve as chairman."

Approov CEO Ted Miracco cited Jackson's combined financial, legal, and operational background as central to the appointment. Lanza, described in the release as an early backer of the company, will continue to contribute to the board in a non-executive capacity.
