Amplitude, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMPL) has appointed Vijaye Raji, founder of Statsig and current CTO of Applications at OpenAI, to its board of directors, according to a company statement.

Raji founded Statsig in 2021 with the aim of making experimentation and data tools accessible to developers, data scientists, and product managers. The platform, which has been adopted by companies including Figma, Notion, and Brex, was built around a statistical engine featuring capabilities such as variance reduction and sequential testing.

Amplitude said Statsig will continue to operate as a platform and brand within the company following the two firms joining together. The combined entity is intended to help teams analyze customer behavior, run experiments, and build software products.

Raji currently leads Ads, Growth, and foundational data and engineering functions at OpenAI. He began his career at Microsoft working on developer tools and software platforms.

"I started Statsig to help teams use data and experimentation to build better products," Raji said. "I'm excited to help carry that mission forward with Spenser and the board as Amplitude and Statsig enter this next chapter together."

Spenser Skates, CEO and co-founder of Amplitude, said the company is "building the future of Amplitude and Statsig together to help them ship better products."

Amplitude serves over 5,200 customers, including Atlassian, Replit, The Economist, and Square.
