Alphatec board member Jeffrey Rydin dies at 59

Alphatec Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: ATEC) announced that board member Jeffrey P. Rydin died at age 59 following a lengthy illness. Rydin passed away on November 3, according to the company statement.

Rydin joined Alphatec as a special advisor to the board in September 2016 and became a board member in June 2017. The company said he played a role in transforming its sales channel during the early stages of the company's turnaround efforts.

Prior to joining Alphatec, Rydin worked in senior sales leadership positions at medical device companies including Ellipse Technologies Inc., NuVasive Inc., and DePuy Spine Inc. over nearly three decades in the medical device and healthcare industries.

"Jeff has been a dear friend and colleague for decades," said Pat Miles, chairman and chief executive officer. "The culture and momentum we have at ATEC today have been built, in no small part, on Jeff's early vision and commitment."

Alphatec, through its subsidiaries Alphatec Spine Inc., EOS imaging S.A.S. and SafeOp Surgical Inc., develops medical devices for spine surgery. The company is based in Carlsbad, California.

Rydin is survived by his wife Melissa and sons Spencer and Griffin, according to the company statement.
