Allbirds appoints Lily Yan Hughes as independent director

Allbirds Inc. (NASDAQ: BIRD) appointed Lily Yan Hughes as an independent director to its board of directors, effective October 31, 2025, the sustainable footwear company announced.

Hughes currently serves as assistant dean at Syracuse University College of Law. She previously held executive positions including senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary at Arrow Electronics Inc. and Public Storage. She also served as vice president and associate general counsel for corporate mergers and acquisitions and finance at Ingram Micro Inc.

Earlier in her career, Hughes worked as a corporate and securities partner at law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. She has served on the board of DirectWomen since 2021, where she currently serves as chair. Hughes previously held board positions with the Association of Corporate Counsel and NUBURU Inc., where she chaired the nominating and governance committee.

Hughes holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a law degree from UC Berkeley School of Law.

"She brings a broad range of expertise to Allbirds spanning technology, distribution, real estate, capital markets and governance," said Joe Vernachio, chief executive officer, according to the company's statement.

The San Francisco-based company makes footwear and apparel using materials including merino wool, tree fiber and sugarcane.
