Akari Therapeutics, Plc (NASDAQ: AKTX) announced the appointment of Patricia LoRusso, D.O., to its Scientific Advisory Board, according to a company press release dated July 7, 2026.

Dr. LoRusso currently serves as the Amy and Joseph Perella Professor of Medicine at Yale Cancer Center, where she also holds the roles of Chief of Experimental Therapeutics and Associate Cancer Center Director of Experimental Therapeutics. She previously held leadership positions at Wayne State University's Barbara Karmanos Cancer Institute, including Director of the Phase I Clinical Trials Program.

She is a past president of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and has served as Co-Chair of the National Cancer Institute Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program Investigational Drug Steering Committee. She has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications.

Akari stated that Dr. LoRusso's expertise will support development of its lead program, AKTX-101, a TROP2-targeting antibody drug conjugate (ADC) using the company's proprietary PH1 payload, which is designed to modulate RNA splicing in cancer cells. The company said it has initiated IND-enabling studies for AKTX-101, with a Phase 1 first-in-human clinical trial targeted for mid-2027.

"Targeting RNA splicing represents a compelling and differentiated approach with the potential to impact fundamental drivers of cancer biology," Dr. LoRusso said in the statement.
