AeroVironment names ManTech CFO Michael Ruppert to its board

AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV) has appointed Michael D. Ruppert to its board of directors, effective August 5, 2026, according to a press release from the Arlington, Virginia-based defense company.



Ruppert has served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at ManTech since 2023, where he oversees financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, cash management, and acquisition strategy. He previously held senior leadership roles at Mercury Systems, including CFO, and earlier co-founded an aerospace and defense-focused mergers and acquisitions advisory firm. He also held investment banking positions at UBS Securities, Lehman Brothers, and Lazard.



Ruppert holds a bachelor's degree in finance and an MBA from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.



"Michael brings exceptional financial leadership, strategic insight and deep aerospace and defense industry experience to AV," said Wahid Nawabi, AeroVironment's chairman, president and chief executive officer.



The company also announced that board member Charles Thomas Burbage will not seek re-election and plans to retire from the board at AeroVironment's 2026 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. Burbage has served on the board since 2013 and currently sits on its Nominating and Corporate Governance, Compensation, and Executive Committees.
