ASA Gold and Precious Metals names Karen Caldwell to board

ASA Gold and Precious Metals Limited (NYSE: ASA) announced board changes including the resignation of two directors and the appointment of Karen Caldwell as a new director.

Directors William Donovan and Mary Joan Hoene have resigned from the board. Donovan served as a director since 2020, while Hoene served since 2014 and as board chair since 2019. The board appointed Caldwell to serve as a director until the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

Caldwell, 66, has been named chair of the company's Audit and Ethics Committee and designated as an "audit committee financial expert." She currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of Tides Organization and previously held CFO roles at Reform Alliance from 2019-2024, NHP Foundation from 2018-2019, and New York City Housing Authority from 2016-2018.

Caldwell has served on the boards of trustees of Saba Capital Income & Opportunities Fund since 2020 and Saba Capital Income & Opportunities Fund II since 2023, chairing the audit committee for both. She also served on the board of Finite Solar Finance Fund from 2021 to 2023.

ASA Gold and Precious Metals Limited is a closed-end fund that invests primarily in companies engaged in precious metals exploration, development, or mining. The company maintains a policy requiring at least 80% of its assets to be invested in precious metals-related securities or direct holdings of precious metals.
