AEP names CEO William Fehrman as board chair, replacing Sara Tucker

American Electric Power (NASDAQ: AEP) announced leadership changes to its board of directors effective August 1, 2025.
Sara Martinez Tucker resigned as chair of the board effective July 31, 2025, citing personal reasons. Tucker stated her resignation was not due to any disagreement with the company regarding operations, policies, or practices. She will remain on the board and was elected as independent lead director.
The board elected William J. Fehrman as the new chair effective August 1, 2025. Fehrman has served on the board since August 1, 2024, and currently holds the positions of chief executive officer and president of the company.
The information was disclosed in a company filing, according to the press release statement.
