Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (Frankfurt: AFX) announced a strategic collaboration with Envision Health Technologies to develop virtual reality-based visual function testing for glaucoma care, according to a press release issued June 18, 2026.

The collaboration pairs Zeiss Medical Technology's perimetry background with Envision Health Technologies' software-driven VR platform. Envision Health Technologies was founded by Dr. Lama A. Al-Aswad, a glaucoma surgeon, who also serves as CEO of the company.

The two companies said the effort is aimed at expanding patient access to glaucoma screenings and offering more flexible workflow options through portable, software-based approaches to visual field testing.

"As glaucoma care continues to evolve, clinicians are looking for solutions that improve patient accessibility, flexibility and experience without compromising clinical confidence," said Anuj Kalra, Head of Chronic Disease Management at Zeiss Medical Technology.

Dr. Al-Aswad noted that the partnership is intended to combine software development with Zeiss's established position in perimetry to produce solutions for glaucoma care in clinical settings.

Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, listed on the TecDAX and SDAX of the German stock exchange, reported revenue of €2,228 million in fiscal year 2024/25 and employs approximately 5,784 people worldwide. The company's head office is in Jena, Germany. The press release disclosed that Dr. Al-Aswad has a financial relationship with Carl Zeiss Meditec AG and its affiliates.
