Zeiss and Aier Eye Hospital agree to deploy 25 femtosecond lasers

Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (TecDAX/SDAX: AFX) announced that its medical technology unit signed a strategic agreement with Aier Eye Hospital Group for the purchase and installation of 25 Zeiss Visumax 800 femtosecond laser systems. The signing ceremony took place on June 12 at Aier Eye Hospital Group's headquarters in Changsha, Hunan Province, China.



The 25 systems are scheduled for progressive deployment across Aier Eye Hospital's domestic and international locations starting later in 2026.



Martin Fischer, President and CEO of Zeiss Greater China, said the two companies plan to explore collaboration in areas including international expansion, integrated digital workflows, and AI-assisted diagnosis.



Li Li, Co-Founder and Global President of Aier Eye Hospital Group, said the introduction of the 25 systems aims to enhance surgical efficiency and patient satisfaction.



At the signing ceremony, Zeiss Medical Technology presented Aier Eye Hospital Group with a "Top Three" honorary plaque recognizing the hospital group's equipment scale, talent pool, and clinical practice. According to the press release, Aier Eye Hospital is set to hold the largest installed base of Zeiss Visumax 800 systems worldwide following the deployment, has the largest number of Zeiss SMILE pro-certified surgeons globally, and ranks first in China for total procedures performed using Zeiss SMILE pro.



Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, headquartered in Jena, Germany, reported revenue of €2,228 million in fiscal year 2024/25. Approximately 59% of its shares are held by Carl Zeiss AG, with around 39% in free float.
