Yubico (NASDAQ STOCKHOLM: YUBICO) appointed Chief Operating Officer Jerrod Chong as acting CEO, the cybersecurity company announced. Current CEO Mattias Danielsson will step down from his role.

Chong has spent twelve years in senior leadership positions at Yubico and brings extensive cybersecurity experience to the role. The company creates hardware authentication security keys and develops passkey technology.

"I am very pleased that Jerrod has accepted the role of acting CEO. With his extensive experience in cybersecurity and twelve years in senior leadership at Yubico, I am confident that he will lead Yubico on a continued path of growth," said Patrik Tigerschiƶld, Chairman of the Board.

Danielsson served as CEO for sixteen years during which the company developed authentication standards and achieved global market presence with its YubiKey products. He will assist with the transition over the next six months.

"Yubico has undergone tremendous development since I joined the company almost sixteen years ago; we have built a global standard for secure authentication, achieved a world-leading market position with our YubiKey, and multiplied our revenue many times over," Danielsson said.

The Stockholm and Santa Clara-based company co-created authentication standards including FIDO2 and WebAuthn. Yubico's technology operates in over 160 countries and works with hundreds of applications and services.

The information is based on a company press release.
