Waymo wins California approval to expand ride-hailing service
Waymo has received approval from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to expand its autonomous ride-hailing service across the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, and to enter two new markets: Sacramento and San Diego.
The company announced the regulatory approval via a post on X, noting that the expansion "will be gradual and guided by our safety framework."
Waymo added that it plans to keep "local officials and residents informed every step of the way" as it extends service to additional communities across California.
