WISeKey rebrands space subsidiary as quantum-secure technology firm

WISeKey International Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: WKEY) announced its space subsidiary WISeSat will operate under the name "WISE Space Advanced Technologies," positioning itself as a European quantum-secure space technology company.

The subsidiary has conducted pilot testing across 21 launched low Earth orbit satellites since 2021, with 14 satellites currently operational. WISeSat began embedding WISeKey and SEALSQ Corp (NASDAQ: LAES) security technologies into small satellite platforms to validate secure IoT communications from orbit.

The company expanded testing through sequential satellite launches, including larger 3U platforms launched by SpaceX in 2025. WISeSat has developed ground-segment capabilities in Switzerland and Spain for command, control and data distribution infrastructure.

The rebranded entity focuses on three areas: proprietary LEO satellite infrastructure for IoT connectivity and post-quantum services, SEALSQ's technology stack including post-quantum semiconductors, and infrastructure supporting SEALSQ's planned Quantum Spatial Orbital Cloud roadmap.

WISeSat hosted the Davos 2026 Quantum Security Space Roundtable in January, bringing together defense, space and quantum industry leaders. The company is preparing to transition to next-generation 6U satellite platforms for post-quantum secure communications.

"WISeSat has progressed from its first secure satellite communication pilot missions to a fully-fledged space technology roadmap," said Carlos Moreira, WISeKey's founder and CEO, according to the company's statement.

The positioning aims to distinguish the company from generic satellite operators and cybersecurity firms while making it accessible to U.S. and European institutional investors. WISeSat plans to support revenue streams in secure data services, edge processing and trusted connectivity for government and commercial customers.
