Volatus Aerospace Inc. (TSX: FLT) announced a memorandum of understanding with Sentinel R&D Inc. to collaborate on developing Canadian interceptor unmanned aerial vehicle platforms.
The non-binding agreement combines Sentinel's airframe engineering and composite manufacturing capabilities with Volatus' systems integration, autonomy software, and commercialization expertise. The partnership aims to advance Canadian-developed UAV technology aligned with defense and security requirements.
Under the framework, Sentinel will contribute UAV platform engineering and composite manufacturing expertise, while Volatus will lead systems integration, mission systems development, testing, and commercialization. The companies plan to explore opportunities for scalable Canadian production capability.
"Volatus continues to execute on its strategy of combining Canadian manufacturing, autonomy software, and operational capability into an integrated aerospace platform," said Glen Lynch, chief executive officer of Volatus Aerospace.
The collaboration supports Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy, which emphasizes sovereign industrial capacity in defense technology domains. Volatus operates aerospace manufacturing facilities in Mirabel and has developed the V-Cortex AI autonomy platform.
Sentinel R&D specializes in advanced composite UAV structures and automated composite manufacturing for defense and aerospace applications. The company focuses on modular UAV platforms with mission-specific configurations.
The agreement establishes a framework for engineering cooperation and potential future commercial agreements but does not create binding purchase obligations. Further technical and commercial discussions will determine specific project details.
