Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday he will not be meeting with Democratic congressional leaders regarding government funding, calling their demands "unserious and ridiculous."

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Democrats are "threatening to shut down the Government" unless they receive "over $1 Trillion Dollars in new spending" for various programs he opposes.

The president claimed Democrats want funding for "free healthcare for Illegal Aliens," "Transgender surgery for minors," and to "allow Illegal Alien Criminals to steal Billions of Dollars in American Taxpayer Benefits."

Trump attributed his election victory to opposition to what he termed "Radical Left Views and Policies," once again highlighting that he won "all seven Swing States, and the Popular Vote, IN A HISTORIC LANDSLIDE."

The president also accused Democrats of trying to eliminate the "$50 Billion Dollar Rural and Vulnerable Hospital Fund," which he said was passed with only Republican votes and signed into law by his administration.

Trump stated he would be willing to meet with Democratic leaders "if they get serious about the future of our Nation" and "agree to the Principles in this Letter."

"To the Leaders of the Democrat Party, the ball is in your court," Trump concluded, adding he looks forward to meeting "when you become realistic about the things that our Country stands for."
