Trump extends US-China tariff relief for 90 days

Investing.com -- President Donald Trump has signed an executive order extending the pause on U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods for another 90 days, a White House official told CNBC on Monday.

This decision follows a preliminary agreement reached by negotiators from both countries last month in Sweden. Trump’s advisers had previously expressed optimism that he would approve the extension.

When asked by reporters earlier Monday about extending the deal, Trump declined to provide a direct answer.

The 90-day extension will help alleviate concerns about a potential renewed tariff war that could disrupt trade between the United States and China. Earlier this year, escalating tensions between Washington and Beijing caused significant volatility in global financial markets.

This extension also provides additional time for both nations to address several unresolved issues.
