Thermo Companies, a Denver-based investment firm, and Focus Automated Equities (FAE), an artificial intelligence company focused on proprietary trading strategies, have announced a strategic partnership, according to a press release.
Under the agreement, Thermo will provide advisory services to FAE covering business strategy, potential liquidity events, third-party partnerships, and machine learning development. The arrangement is described as a high-level advisory relationship.
Thermo Companies was founded in 1984 and reports assets under management of $9 billion across sectors including energy, satellite and fiber connectivity, real estate, data infrastructure, and cybersecurity. Its holdings include Globalstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: GSAT), Quantum Corporation (NASDAQ: QMCO), and The Western Investment Company of Canada Limited (TSXV: WI).
FAE develops and licenses proprietary trading strategies using AI and machine learning frameworks. The company describes its competitive advantage as an intellectual property portfolio designed to translate market signals into licensable investment strategies.
"Thermo is proud to bring our strategic expertise to Britton and the Focus team as they scale a genuinely differentiated platform," said Jay Monroe of Thermo Companies.
Britton Sanderford of FAE said Thermo's "operational depth and long-term perspective" made the firm an appropriate partner, adding that guidance on corporate strategy and investment technology would be valuable to FAE's growth.
