Takeda names Rhonda Pacheco as U.S. business unit president
Takeda Pharmaceutical (TSE:4502/NYSE: TAK) announced that Rhonda Pacheco will join the company as president of its U.S. Business Unit, effective September 29. Pacheco will succeed Julie Kim, who was previously appointed to become Takeda's next chief executive officer in June 2026.
Pacheco joins Takeda from Eli Lilly, where she served as group vice president of U.S. Cardiometabolic Health. At Eli Lilly, she oversaw complex portfolios across various leadership roles, including product launches of the company's GLP-1 portfolio.
With Pacheco's appointment, Kim will focus on preparing for the CEO transition and will serve as interim head of the Global Portfolio Division. Kim is set to succeed current CEO Christophe Weber in June 2026, as previously announced by Takeda's Board of Directors.
Pacheco will become a member of Takeda's Executive Team in her new role. She holds an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island.
The appointment represents part of Takeda's leadership transition as the Japanese pharmaceutical company prepares for Kim's elevation to CEO next year. Takeda operates in approximately 80 countries and regions, focusing on therapeutic areas including gastrointestinal and inflammation, rare diseases, plasma-derived therapies, oncology, neuroscience and vaccines.
