TGE signs deal to buy Kuala Lumpur hotel

The Generation Essentials Group (NYSE: TGE) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, according to a company statement. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions.

The hotel is located in Kuala Lumpur's main commercial and business district and connects via a link bridge to Sunway Putra Mall and the Putra World Trade Centre. The property features 135 hotel rooms, a gym, a library, and a rooftop infinity pool on the 37th floor.

TGE is a subsidiary of AMTD Digital Inc. (NYSE: HKD) and was jointly established by AMTD Group, AMTD IDEA Group (NYSE: AMTD), and AMTD Digital Inc. The company focuses on global strategies in multi-media, entertainment, cultural affairs, hospitality and VIP services.

The acquisition represents part of TGE's global hospitality expansion, following previously announced entries into the United States and Australia markets. TGE's portfolio includes L'Officiel, The Art Newspaper, movie and entertainment projects, and premium properties.

The press release did not disclose financial terms of the transaction or specify a timeline for closing.
