Starlab Space LLC announced that Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) will lead assembly, integration and testing activities for the commercial space station at a U.S.-based facility, according to a company statement.

Leidos will assemble and integrate Starlab's space station components into a complete system and conduct environmental, functional and performance testing in Alabama. The company will also provide safety and mission assurance, systems engineering, real-time crew support and ground-based logistics and training infrastructure.

"Starlab and Leidos share a commitment to mission success," said Marshall Smith, Starlab Chief Executive Officer. "As we move quickly from design to development and into real-time operations, Leidos brings the proven execution and domain expertise needed to help us deliver a safe and operational station."

The work supports Starlab's preparation to serve NASA, international partners and commercial users following the retirement of the International Space Station. Starlab is developing a commercial space station intended to maintain human presence in low-Earth orbit.

Starlab Space is a joint venture that includes Voyager Technologies (NYSE: VOYG), Airbus, Mitsubishi Corporation, MDA Space, Palantir Technologies and Space Applications Services. Strategic partners include Hilton, Journey, Northrop Grumman and The Ohio State University.
