Sigyn Therapeutics adds Dr. Christoph Zaba to advisory board
Sigyn Therapeutics Inc. (OTCQB: SIGY) announced the appointment of Dr. Christoph Zaba to its Scientific Advisory Board, according to a press release statement.
Dr. Zaba brings experience in medical technology and extracorporeal therapies from his tenure at Fresenius Medical Care, where he directed global product management in therapeutic apheresis. His work included immunoadsorption therapies for autoimmune diseases and lipoprotein apheresis for removing pathogenic lipoproteins from blood.
The San Diego-based company develops dialysis-like therapies for cardiovascular disease and cancer. Its Sigyn Therapy technology targets lipoprotein(a) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in blood while addressing inflammatory molecules associated with cardiovascular disease.
On September 3, Sigyn disclosed plans to begin a multi-site clinical feasibility study of Sigyn Therapy in high-risk cardiovascular disease subjects with end-stage renal disease. The company states that successful completion could lead to a pivotal efficacy study required for potential market clearance.
Lipoprotein apheresis treatments are currently available at fewer than 60 specialized centers in the United States. Sigyn's technology is designed for use on dialysis machines located in approximately 7,500 U.S. dialysis clinics.
The company also develops cancer therapies including ImmunePrep for immunotherapeutic antibody delivery, ChemoPrep for chemotherapy targeting, and ChemoPure for reducing chemotherapy toxicity. Sigyn plans to advance these cancer treatment candidates through joint venture relationships.
