STMicroelectronics completes acquisition of NXP's MEMS sensors business

STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) completed its acquisition of NXP Semiconductors' (NASDAQ: NXPI) MEMS sensors business on February 2, 2026, according to a company statement.
The transaction, which was announced in July 2025 and received regulatory approval, focuses on automotive safety and non-safety products and sensors for industrial applications. The acquisition expands STMicroelectronics' sensors capabilities across automotive and industrial markets.
STMicroelectronics expects the acquired business to contribute in the mid-forties million dollar range to its revenues in the first quarter of 2026, based on the company's initial assessment.
The semiconductor company, which employs 48,000 people globally, operates state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and works with more than 200,000 customers. STMicroelectronics manufactures semiconductor technologies for applications including mobility, power and energy management, and cloud-connected devices.
The acquisition represents STMicroelectronics' expansion into MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) sensors, which are used in various automotive safety systems and industrial applications.
