SEALSQ and GlobalFoundries sign MoU on post-quantum cryptography chips

SEALSQ Corp (Nasdaq: LAES) and GlobalFoundries (Nasdaq: GFS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to co-develop secure semiconductor platforms, post-quantum cryptography technology, and cryogenic semiconductor-based quantum computing systems, according to a press release issued July 8, 2026.

The agreement outlines three areas of collaboration. First, the companies plan to co-develop pre-certified post-quantum cryptography security IP blocks and Chiplet Hardware Security Module components, working alongside MIPS, a GlobalFoundries company, targeting applications such as Hardware Security Modules and Secure Enclaves.

Second, the partnership will focus on designing and developing cryoelectronic ASICs — chips that operate at ultra-low temperatures — for joint clients and partners, building on GlobalFoundries' recently announced Quantum Technology Solutions business and SEALSQ's quantum ASIC design work. The effort will leverage GlobalFoundries' U.S. manufacturing facilities.

Third, the partnership is described as aligned with European and U.S. sovereign supply chain priorities, with both companies committing to traceable and secure semiconductor production.

"This partnership is about building the foundation for the quantum era: trusted digital infrastructure secured by post-quantum cryptography and the semiconductor technologies that will enable future quantum computing systems," said Nicholas Sergeant, vice president of Quantum Technology Solutions at GlobalFoundries.

Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ, said the two companies share a view that semiconductors, cybersecurity, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum computing are converging into a single technology ecosystem.

GlobalFoundries operates manufacturing facilities across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. SEALSQ is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
