Red Cat partners with AeroVironment for drone deployment system

Red Cat Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: RCAT) announced a development partnership with AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV) to enable Red Cat's FANG FPV drones to deploy from AV's P550 unmanned aircraft system.

The companies are developing a configuration that allows the P550 to carry and release FANG drones through its modular CLIK interface. The collaboration utilizes the P550's Modular Open Systems Approach architecture to demonstrate interoperability between different unmanned systems.

"This collaboration reflects how U.S. companies can come together to advance modular, interoperable technologies that strengthen operational capability," said Jeff Thompson, CEO of Red Cat. "By exploring how FANG can be deployed from the P550, we're showing what's possible when small, agile systems are paired with long-endurance platforms."

AeroVironment's P550 is an autonomous, all-electric Group 2 eVTOL unmanned aircraft system with a 15-pound modular payload capacity and five-hour endurance. Red Cat's FANG FPV drone is part of its Arachnid Family of Systems and is designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance applications.

The partnership aims to combine long-range and short-range reconnaissance capabilities within a single mission framework. When deployed from the P550, FANG drones can provide situational awareness beyond visual line of sight.

Both companies are conducting design and compatibility work for the payload deployment system. The collaboration seeks to demonstrate interoperability between different drone classes and extend FPV operational range through aerial deployment.
