PowerBank Corporation (NASDAQ: SUUN) announced a collaboration with Orbit AI to develop what they call an "Orbital Cloud" system that combines satellite communications with artificial intelligence computing capabilities in low Earth orbit.
The partnership centers on Orbit AI's planned DeStarlink Genesis-1 satellite launch scheduled for December 2025. The satellite will feature solar-powered computing systems, an Ethereum wallet, and blockchain verification capabilities designed to operate in space.
PowerBank plans to invest initially $50,000 in Orbit AI with an option to increase investment up to $10 million for a 20% equity stake, contingent on final terms and completion before the satellite launch.
"The combined markets for orbital satellites, in-orbit data centers, blockchain verification, and solar-powered digital infrastructure are projected to exceed $700 billion over the next decade," said Dr. Richard Lu, CEO of PowerBank.
The project involves technology components from NVIDIA, the Ethereum Foundation, Galaxy Space, Galactic Energy, SparkX Satellite, and AscendX Aerospace as existing or planned suppliers, according to the company statement.
Orbit AI aims to expand to 5-8 orbital nodes by 2026 and achieve full constellation rollout by 2027-2028. The Singapore-based company is developing DeStarlink as a decentralized satellite network and DeStarAI as orbital data centers.
PowerBank, which develops solar and battery storage projects across North America, will contribute solar energy systems and thermal control solutions to the space infrastructure project. The company has a development pipeline of over one gigawatt and has built renewable energy projects totaling over 100 megawatts.
The announcement cited market projections including a global satellite market of $615 billion by 2032 and in-orbit data centers growing from $1.77 billion in 2029 to $39.1 billion by 2035.
