Pacific Gas and Electric Company (NYSE: PCG) appointed Alejandro "Alex" Vallejo as executive vice president and chief people officer, effective September 30. Vallejo has worked at PG&E for 15 years in various leadership roles.
In his new position, Vallejo will oversee PG&E's human resources organization, including talent acquisition, labor relations, employee development and change management. He replaces Kaled Awada, who announced his departure from the company earlier this month.
Prior to this appointment, Vallejo served as PG&E's chief risk officer and senior vice president of ethics and compliance. In that role, he managed enterprise risk assessment and mitigation related to operations and public safety, while also overseeing the company's ethics, compliance, privacy and records governance programs.
"Alex has been one of the most empathetic and trustworthy leaders I've had the pleasure of working with," said PG&E Corporation CEO Patti Poppe in a statement.
Before joining PG&E, Vallejo worked as a litigator at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP, focusing on complex commercial cases and regulatory matters. He holds a law degree from Harvard Law School and a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Riverside.
PG&E is a natural gas and electric utility serving more than 16 million people across 70,000 square miles in Northern and Central California.
