ONWARD Medical appoints Lucas Buchanan to board of directors
ONWARD Medical N.V. (Euronext: ONWD and OTCQX: ONWRY) announced the appointment of Lucas Buchanan as a non-executive member of its board of directors, according to a company statement.
Buchanan previously served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Silk Road Medical, where he helped lead the company from its founding through its initial public offering in 2019 and subsequent acquisition by Boston Scientific in 2024. Before joining Silk Road Medical, he held positions at The Vertical Group, Impax Laboratories, Warburg Pincus, Medtronic, and Ernst & Young.

Buchanan brings over 25 years of experience in commercialization, operations, business development, investing, and finance. He currently serves on the boards of directors for several medical technology companies, including Element Science, Aerin Medical, Route 92 Medical, Procyrion, and Endologix.

ONWARD Medical develops neurotechnology therapies for people with spinal cord injuries and other movement disabilities. The company's ARC Therapy has received ten Breakthrough Device Designations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and its ARC-EX System is cleared for commercial sale in the United States.
Buchanan holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Duke University and an MBA in health care management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was formerly a venture capitalist with the Vertical Group and remains active as an investor and advisor to medical device companies and healthcare investment funds.
