Navan (NASDAQ: NAVN) and OpenTable, a subsidiary of Booking Holdings (NASDAQ: BKNG), announced a partnership to integrate restaurant discovery and reservation booking into Navan's AI-powered travel assistant, Navan Edge, according to a press release.
The integration allows business travelers to search for and book restaurant reservations through Navan Edge's chat interface alongside existing flight and hotel booking features. The platform uses a traveler's live location and itinerary to suggest dining options near meetings, offices, or hotels.
Navan Edge is also described as capable of learning from past reservations, including dietary restrictions and cuisine preferences, to provide personalized recommendations. The platform will send proactive reservation reminders ahead of upcoming trips.
A planned future feature will allow users to discover and book private dining rooms, restaurant buyouts, and large tables for group events through OpenTable's private and group dining platform. The companies did not provide a timeline for that feature's availability.
"Dining is an essential part of the travel experience, but finding the right spot shouldn't feel like work," said Robin Chiang, Chief Growth Officer at OpenTable. "By bringing OpenTable directly into Navan Edge, we're making it effortless for business travelers to manage their entire itinerary in one place."
OpenTable serves more than 70,000 restaurants worldwide and facilitates approximately 2 billion seat reservations per year. Navan is headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif.
