NEO Battery Materials Ltd. (TSXV: NBM) (OTC: NBMFF) appointed Seok Joung Youn as Head of Manufacturing and Facility Operations, according to a company statement.

Youn brings 40 years of lithium-ion battery manufacturing and quality control experience from Samsung SDI and battery startups. At Samsung SDI, ranked as the world's seventh-largest battery cell manufacturer, he launched the industry's first 1,200mm-wide electrode production line for electric vehicles.

During his Samsung tenure, Youn stabilized product yield and established operator protocols while enhancing the company's global battery deployment capacity. He later held senior roles at battery startups including EoCell, where he led pilot production lines for a European gigafactory's commercial-level qualification.

At NEO Battery, Youn will work alongside Dr. J.S. Jeoung, SVP of Commercialization & Cell Development, to lead manufacturing operations. He will direct production of electrodes and large-format cells for testing and validating NEO's silicon battery materials at near-commercial scale.

NEO Battery Materials develops silicon anode materials for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles, electronics, and energy storage systems. The Toronto-based company uses a patent-protected manufacturing process for its battery materials.

"We are honoured to welcome Mr. Youn to NEO Battery Materials, and we are excited to build a well-rounded team that covers the full spectrum of battery manufacturing and technology," said Spencer Huh, President and CEO of NEO.
