NEO Battery Materials raises $5.5M, adds Korean military advisors
NEO Battery Materials Ltd. (TSXV: NBM) (OTC: NBMFF) increased its private placement offering to approximately $5.5 million from the previously announced $4 million due to investor demand. The company will sell up to 10,784,313 units at $0.51 per unit.
The Toronto-based battery technology company also appointed two Korean military officers as strategic defense advisors. Admiral Seung-Sub Shim, former Chief of Naval Operations of the Republic of Korea Navy, and Major General Geun-Young Choi, former Commander of Air Defense & Control of the ROK Air Force, will provide guidance on military procurement processes.
The private placement is expected to close around September 25, 2025, subject to TSX Venture Exchange approval and other customary conditions. NEO received conditional acceptance from the exchange.
Admiral Shim served 35 years in the Korean Navy and later worked as South Korea's Ambassador to Australia. Major General Choi spent 20 years in the Korean Air Force and managed defense procurement through the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
NEO develops silicon-enhanced lithium-ion batteries for drones, robotics, and electronics applications. The company aims to provide battery solutions for defense platforms including unmanned aerial systems, unmanned underwater vehicles, and other mobility applications.
The advisors will help ensure NEO's battery solutions meet military requirements for extended mission operability, safety standards, and performance durability, according to the company's statement.
