Mobileye Global Inc. (Nasdaq: MBLY) announced that founder Prof. Amnon Shashua has informed the company's board of directors of his intention to step down as chief executive officer upon the appointment of a successor.
The board said it will hire an executive search firm to conduct a search for a new CEO. Shashua will remain a director of the company, and the board has offered him the role of chairman once a new CEO is appointed.
Shashua founded Mobileye in 1999 and has led the company through several milestones, including its 2017 sale to Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) and a subsequent relisting as an independent public company in 2022. Intel currently holds approximately 77% beneficial ownership of Mobileye.
"As the company continues to grow and mature, I believe this is the right moment to establish the leadership structure that will be best suited for Mobileye's next chapter," Shashua said in a statement.
Safroadu Yeboah-Amankwah, chairman of Mobileye's board, said the company is "confident in Mobileye's strategy, leadership team, technology platform, customer relationships, and long-term opportunities."
David Zinsner, Intel's executive vice president and chief financial officer, said Intel "continues to be bullish on Mobileye and its trajectory."
If appointed chairman, Shashua would focus on long-term technology trends and innovation, including the company's humanoid robotics business. Mobileye acquired Mentee Robotics in 2026 to pursue what it describes as physical AI and humanoid robots.
Mobileye's technology has been deployed in more than 250 million vehicles across more than 1,400 vehicle models worldwide, according to the company.
