Matthews International Corporation (NASDAQ: MATW) announced that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California confirmed a previous arbitration decision in the company's favor and denied Tesla's attempt to overturn it.
The Pittsburgh-based company manufactures continuous process machinery for battery electrode production, including dry battery electrode solutions. Matthews has operated in rotary manufacturing technologies for energy storage devices for more than two decades.
"This ruling is a significant validation of our technology, our intellectual property, and our commitment to innovation," said Joe Bartolacci, president and CEO of Matthews. "For over 20 years, Matthews has invested in solutions that enable the future of energy storage and electrification."
Matthews International operates through two segments: Industrial Technologies and Memorialization. The Industrial Technologies segment focuses on precision technologies and manufacturing processes, while the Memorialization segment provides products to cemetery and funeral home customers. The company employs over 5,400 people across 19 countries.
The court decision reinforces an earlier arbitration ruling, though specific details of the dispute or financial implications were not disclosed in the company's announcement.
