Maritime Launch adds MDA Space executive to board of directors
Maritime Launch Services Inc. (Cboe CA: MAXQ, OTCQB: MAXQF) appointed Ian McLeod to its board of directors, effective immediately, according to a company statement.
McLeod serves as vice president of corporate development at MDA Space and brings over 30 years of experience in the space and defense sectors. His career spans engineering, program management, business development, and executive leadership across North America, South America, Central America, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering and business administration.
"I am pleased to join the Board of Maritime Launch at such a defining moment for the company and for Canada's space sector, as the country prepares to offer global launch capability from its own soil," McLeod said in the statement.
The appointment strengthens strategic alignment between Maritime Launch and MDA Space following MDA Space's recent strategic investment in Maritime Launch. MDA Space operates as a mission partner to the global space industry and specializes in communications satellites, Earth and space observation, and space exploration infrastructure.
Sasha Jacob, chair of the board of directors, said McLeod's experience in public and private sectors and understanding of international space markets will support the development of Spaceport Nova Scotia.
McLeod joins the board alongside Stephen Matier, president and chief executive officer; Sylvain LaPorte; Rita Thiel; and board chair Sasha Jacob.
Maritime Launch is developing Spaceport Nova Scotia, described as Canada's first commercial orbital launch complex. The Nova Scotia-based company aims to provide satellite delivery services for the commercial space transportation industry.
