Lupin launches partnership program for long-acting injectable platform
Lupin Limited (BSE: 500257) announced a strategic partnership program to expand its PrecisionSphere long-acting injectable platform. The Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company said the program aims to collaborate with companies seeking to extend product lifecycles through longer-acting formulations.
The PrecisionSphere platform, developed by Lupin's subsidiary Nanomi B.V., received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for its first product. The technology enables consistent particle size, shape, and biological properties in drug manufacturing, according to the company's press release.
"With the validation of PrecisionSphere's capabilities and our proven track record of executing several key strategic partnerships each year, we are ready to expand patient access to advanced LAI treatments through new global strategic collaborations," said Dr. Fabrice Egros, President of Corporate Development at Lupin.
The platform addresses manufacturing challenges in long-acting injectables by producing uniform particle characteristics, which the company states leads to improved injectability and optimized drug release over periods ranging from weeks to months.
Dr. Shahin Fesharaki, Chief Scientific Officer at Lupin, said the technology leverages regulatory expertise and manufacturing capabilities to lower development barriers for long-acting injectables across therapeutic areas.
Lupin operates 15 manufacturing sites and 7 research centers globally, with products distributed in over 100 markets. The company employs over 24,000 professionals and maintains positions in respiratory, cardiovascular, anti-diabetic, and other therapeutic areas.
