Levi Strauss partners with Microsoft on AI-powered employee tools

November 17, 2025 9:01 AM EST

Levi Strauss & Co. (NYSE: LEVI) announced a collaboration with Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) to develop artificial intelligence tools for its employees, according to a press release.

The apparel company is creating what it calls a "superagent" using Microsoft Azure cloud services and Teams messaging platform. The system functions as a central portal where employees can ask questions, with responses provided by multiple AI agents working behind the scenes.

The superagent will manage various subagents, some already deployed and others in development, to assist employees across corporate, retail and warehouse operations.

"We're rewiring Levi Strauss & Co. to be a DTC-first, fan-obsessed retailer making every interaction faster, smarter and more personal," said Jason Gowans, chief digital and technology officer at Levi Strauss & Co. "AI sits at the center of that pivot — fueling innovation, elevating employee creativity, unlocking productivity."

The company is also adopting Microsoft Surface Copilot+ PCs running Windows 11 and deploying Microsoft Intune for device management. Levi's developers are using GitHub Copilot for software development projects.

As part of its digital transformation, Levi Strauss is moving application workloads from on-premises data centers to Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure. The company used Azure Migrate and GitHub Copilot to plan and execute the migration.

Keith Mercier, vice president of Worldwide Retail and Consumer Goods Industry at Microsoft, said the partnership demonstrates how established brands can use cloud and AI technologies for reinvention.

Levi Strauss & Co. reported 2024 net revenues of $6.4 billion and operates approximately 3,200 retail stores and shop-in-shops across 120 countries worldwide.
