Lantern Pharma appoints Dr. Lee Schalop to board of directors

Lantern Pharma Inc. (NASDAQ: LTRN) announced the appointment of Dr. Lee T. Schalop to its board of directors, according to a company press release.
Dr. Schalop brings more than 20 years of experience in biotechnology leadership and financial markets, with expertise in precision neurooncology and clinical development. He co-founded Oncoceutics Inc., a drug discovery company focused on targeted therapies for solid tumors, which was sold to Chimerix Inc. for $450 million in January 2021.
At Oncoceutics, Dr. Schalop served in various roles including Chief Business Officer from 2009-2016, Chief Operating Officer from 2016-2020, and Chief Executive Officer from 2020-2021. Following the Chimerix acquisition, he served as a board observer until Chimerix was acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals for $935 million in April 2025.
Prior to his biotech career, Dr. Schalop spent 19 years in the financial industry at firms including Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, Credit Suisse, and Banc of America Securities, working as both an investment banker and research analyst.

Dr. Schalop earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2008 and holds dual degrees from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and College of Arts and Sciences. He currently serves on the supervisory board of TME Pharma N.V. and sits on the advisory board of the Vagelos Program in Life Sciences and Management at the University of Pennsylvania.
